In 1992 the Pro-Life Movement in Maryland was dealt a devastating blow. Reeling from a popular vote defeat on a pro-life referendum, the pro-life community organized a statewide pro-life congress that was held on May 22, 1993. This congress, attended by over 150 pro-life supporters, sought to rebuild the Pro-Life Movement in Maryland. A survey was distributed at this congress, the results tabulated, and a summary distributed to attendees. Based on a “combination approach” and organized by legislative district and pro-life organizations, Pro-Life Maryland was born.
Seeking maximum protection of innocent human life—in every scenario and circumstance possible—given the political arena dynamics of the opposition (Rights-over-Life Choice and apathy) at the time;
Loving innocent life and loving the moral absolutes in the moral dynamic of their competition and the persistent default to the protection of the innocent;
Providing a leadership approach—tempered with a living mercy of the Good Samaritan parable as told by Jesus—towards all those seen as "useless" by society;
Creating a unique evangelization of the apathetic;
Fostering an educational, faith-filled and action-oriented approach to making friends, building up the common good, and building paths to the "Road-to-Jericho Continuum."
