Holding Potential Hostage Have you ever considered the depth and breadth of a negative expectation of someone? Most people intuitively understand that the successful personal development of a child is fundamentally based, among other things, upon positive encouragement. Parents must continuously study their child in his or her development of God-given potential. Enough negative expectation in a child's growing-up years carries with it the possibility of substantial damage to this God-given potential. Most parents also intrinsically know that it is critical in a child's development years to be surrounded by unconditional love-driven relationships that nourish this God-given potential. Since openness to the other is also embedded at conception as part of one's restlessness in yearning for God, a person's potential is an integral component of authentic, dynamic, and integrated communion in its fullness. The parental energy for the development and future good of a child—including the common good of family, community, state, nation, and world—must be dedicated to truth to succeed. The Christ Child and His Holy Family are our earthly validation. Holding people in a spot in time that they have personally grown beyond can be driven by competition, personal guilt and/or apathy. Competition is quickly understood. Apathy is readily acknowledged. Guilt is readily rejected by most; however, it too is an engine of negative expectation that plays a role in holding someone's God-given potential hostage. No person dedicated to the Pro-Life Movement would consider deliberately damaging the embedded God-given potential of a child. Will we hold to this high standard this upcoming 2005 Legislative Session as we face people boxed in by a pro-abortion negative expectation/label because of the nature of the obfuscated competition between the two sides? Will we reach out in authentic communion to those people labeled pro-aborts, and help them understand the many reasons why they are for and pro- life—especially as relates to the innocent—and help positive expectation shape their future? This huge wall of resistance in 2005 is penetrable. Will we face and ultimately defeat the real enemy: the business—disconnected from conscience— that is fueled by defeating innocent human life and is fraudulently connected to the authentic good of business in Maryland? We can use all the willing help available to us to assist with an organized team approach to protect innocent human life. We have moved our offices to Annapolis and are staging the most active campaign for innocent human life since the early 90ties. Please visit our website at www.prolifemaryland.org and bless us with your time and energy, talent, and/or resources. Sign up for Life Reflections™ to keep abreast of our efforts and/or give a donation online. The status quo in Maryland can be so no longer. Innocent human life continues to be snuffed out. With your help, and with our pro-life friends and legislators, we will win and move the culture in Maryland to an innocent life focus. Prayer of the Faithful
