Tony Perkins' Washington Update Healing Broken Hearts
Our own Dr. David Prentice has returned from a whirlwind tour against cloning and embryo destruction and for ethical adult stem cell science. In Costa Rica, he provided expert testimony in support of that nation's UN resolution to ban all human cloning. In Missouri, Dr. Prentice testified before the state senate on behalf of a bill that would ban human cloning. And in Florida, he spoke to a gathering of pro-life obstetricians and gynecologists, explaining the science of human cloning. These visits were all timely, as more state and international governments debate the ethics of cloning and embryonic versus adult stem cell science. This weekend, The Philadelphia Inquirer ran a front-page article about the effectiveness of adult stem cells in treating damaged hearts. Another study released last week in the Journal of Clinical Investigation showed that adult stem cells from bone marrow could not only help repair heart damage but also turn into virtually any cell in the body. Adult stem cell therapies are helping hundreds of patients, whereas lethal embryonic stem cell research is still ethically and medically empty. FRC is blessed to have someone like Dr. Prentice, who can bring the focus of this debate back to the question of ethical and effective science.
